What is a webcast?
A webcast, sometimes called a webinar or web conference, is a way to hold interactive meetings, presentations and conferences over the Internet. Unlike video conferencing, webcasting allows groups of a few to a few thousand people to simultaneously log on from anywhere in the world, at home or work - all they need is a computer and an Internet connection. Webcasts typically include synchronized slides or Powerpoint presentations and also on-screen links to downloads and related documents. Viewers can see and hear the event live and instantly interact with the presenter using our q&A module. The webcast can also be viewed later on demand. Webcasting is the most versatile way to communicate your message.

What is the difference between a webcast and the “webinar” services I hear advertised all the time?
Unlike services such as WebEx™ or Go-To-Meeting™, webcast viewers see and hear the actual speaker, event, Powerpoint presentation and videos, without having to use their telephone or anything other than their computer. This simple but critical difference can be essential in helping viewers to “connect” with presenters, enabling a much higher degree of identity, understanding and feeling a part of the presentation. Viewers can ask questions, make comments or request additional information with a simple click of their mouse. No downloads or special software are required to participate in a webcast.

What do online participants see on their screen?
Take a look at this screenshot graphic :
What you are seeing is a “skin".
top
What is a skin?
A skin is actually the web page the viewer goes to. Within the skin will be information about the organization, such as its logo and name and perhaps information about that particular event. The skin will have various windows, one typically showing the video and audio portion of the event and another showing the Powerpoint or graphic presentation. The skin will probably also contain hyperlinks to related web sites, documents or files and perhaps sponsor information. Skins are highly customizable and Webcast24-7 will be happy to create a skin which meets your needs.

How can a presentation be interactive?
Unlike TV or radio, the Internet is a two-way medium. By including hyperlinks on the webcast skin, viewers can be encouraged to ask questions, provide feedback, fill in questionnaires, take tests or register their interest in being contacted. A typical example is a corporate presentation webcast with a Q&A module built into the skin. Questions can be asked online to either the presenter or a moderator who can then decide which to address.

How can webcasting save my organization money?
By simply reducing travel and accommodation costs and lost work time. Even meeting venue costs can be reduced or eliminated - Webcast24-7 can webcast right from your office. The cost of the webcast itself is usually covered many times over by such savings.

What about security? I don’t want unauthorized people viewing my webcast.
